Qld: Police step up search for escapee

Police have stepped up the search for a 21-year-old man who escaped custody in an unmarked
police car on Friday.

KURT CLAYTON appeared in Brisbane's District Court on Thursday on breaking and entering charges.

Police say CLAYTON was in a police car on Friday showing detectives where the break-ins
had occurred in the northside suburb of Ascot when he complained of feeling sick.

when the detectives stopped the car and got out, the shackled prisoner apparently locked
the doors and sped off.

The vehicle was later found dumped at Balmoral on Brisbane's southside.

CLAYTON was last seen in the Bowen Hills area about 5.30pm (AEST) on Friday -- minus
his ankle and wrist shackles.

A police spokeswoman says CLAYTON was wearing a black baseball cap, black short and
carrying a T-shirt.

He is described as 175cm tall, with blond hair, blue eyes, fair skin, slight build
and walking with a limp.

Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
